Nepheline is a feldspar with a high proportion of sodium and potassium, a lower proportion of silica and a low presence of free quartz. It is an igneous rock that visually resembles granite.

In the ceramic industry, nepheline can be used in masses to lower the melting point. In glazes, it draws attention to its fusibility and matte effect.
